About
Welcome to my site.
I have owned itowler.com for a few years now, and it has undergone some changes over time. When I first started the site, I did not have much to add to the site, but it has grown over time. I moved from a simple CSS based layout, to a CMS (content management system) called Xoops. I used Xoops for around 2 years, but it got old and in my opnion, did not seem to be keeping up with the other CMS's out there. The old Xoops site had a photo album, blogs, and a family tree. Currently Itowler.com runs a different CMS and has my blogs (or attempts at), a private photo album, and a family tree.
Why do I have the site?
Good question. Why not? I like to learn (just look at my CV here) and the website gives me an excuse to stay in touch with computers/web based stuff. The learning new things was also part of what drove me to change the CMS system that was running itowler.com, I wanted to learn something new. In about 2006 I started getting really interested in my Family History / Genealogy, and I think that the web is a great tool to both gather information and share information that is relevent to that topic. In 2008 I joined the Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and I am currently serving as the State webmaster. You can see that site here.
I fill my free time by working on my second Master's Degree, playing roller Hockey, working on my Family History / Genealogy, and reading.
