Like every year I am going to post my goals for 2011.  These are not resolutions, but rather goals.  What's the difference you may ask?  Well if it's a resolution, it is easier to fail or quit on.  For example, if the resolution is to stop drinking coke, if you have a coke, then you failed, and may think about giving up on the resolution entirely.  If it is a goal, having that coke is a "slip" and you can get back to the plan the next day. So., like 2009 and 2010... I am working on Goals for 2011 and not resolutions. 

The Goals: 

Lose weight

This is a carry-over from the last several years.  I need to get down to 165-170.  I have made some progress towards the end of 2010, and I plan on continuing that to get to the 165 - 170 target.  This one is getting important, the longer I keep the weight on, the harder it is going to be to get rid of it.

Stop Drinking Coke / SODA

Again a carry-over from the last several years.   This one is hard for me; I just need to do it, and I made some progress in the last part of 2010, but I still have a coke every now and then.  I am not ruling out things like "zero" cokes or diet, but regular, "fully leaded" are out.

Add 50 posts to Itowler.com

Yeah, Yeah, how many times have we heard this one....  I should have some more free time now that I am not in school.

Move Itowler.com to a new host

My hosting is going to run out soon, and I think that things could be fast else where, so I will be moving itowler.com to a new hosting company.  If you are a regular visitor, you will not see a change, it should just be faster.  The address will stay the same.

Get the Family Tree up to 2750 people

I have had similar goals before, but this seems pretty doable.  The catch is that I will not be adding them unless I can include at least 1 source document.  This time I only need to add 412 people to reach my goal.  A little more than 1 person a day.  Much more manageable.

Upgrade itowler.com to Drupal 7

Drupal is the CMS that powers itowler.com.  Recently Drupal has been working towards an updated version that hasmany more features, and I will be moving to that once it is stable.  I will not be moving until Drupal 7 has settled a bit, but I will get it done by the end of 2011.  

Move famiyltree.itowler.com to WebTrees

The Familytree portion of my website is currently run using a program called PhpGedView (PGV).  There is a new project that has emerged from PGV called WebTrees and I plan on moving familytree.itowler.com over to that platform.  

Setup a backup Server for use in my home

I have an older Home theater PC laying around collecting dust, and I am going to turn it into a home server that we can use for backups.  The need for this one is driven by the fact that we almost lost My wifes computer to a virus, and it had a ton of stuff on it, most of which was not backed up.  The goal is to get this one done by end of Feb 2011.

So there are my goals for 2011, let's see what I can get done!
