Toler Book Out

A Toler book has been published!
A distant cousin Ray Toler, who is a character actor living in Chicago, has written a book that covers the Toler/Towler family. Mr. Toler's book, Following the River Wide and Deep, is 286 pages long, and starts with Charles Towler of the Virginia Company and works its way forward. The primary focus of his book deals with the Toler/Towler's of Virginia (from which I descend), but also talks about the North Carolina Toler clan. The book is well cited, and very well written.
The book is filled with pictures, maps, charts and personal stories. Unlike many books that are written about a particular surname, Ray Toler's book is written as a narrative. The fact that book is written in a narrative style makes it enjoyable and very easy to read.
Unlike some other surnames, there are very few books that have been published on the Towler/Toller/Toler surname. The last time that I checked, the DAR Library in Washington DC only had 2:
- Sharon Kay Towler Steo's Ancestors and Descendants of Nathaniel Davis Towler
- Alice Craft and Anita Baudean's Tolar, Toler, Toller, Towler: A One Name Study Vols 1-3
There is another Toler/Towler book that was written in the 1960's by Juby Earl Towler called From the Fruit of the Garden, but it is rare and can be hard to find. Towler/Toler researchers can now add another book to the list of books that deal with our surname.
Ray Toler's book is a welcome addition to the growing collection of books on the Toler/Towler surname.
You can purchase Mr. Toler's book by visiting a website that he has setup for the book (www.tolerbook.com). The website includes more details, the index, the Authors Bio, the table of contents etc. I highly recommend that you visit the site, and consider purchasing a copy of the book.
