2008 Wrap Up

goals

Wow, 2008 flew by.  The year has passed, and I did not even notice.  Lots going on this year, but its time to take a look at the goals I set for 2008 and see how well I did.  Without really looking very hard, I can already tell you that I did not do that great of a job on my goals list, so many of them will be carried over to 2009.  I will list the 2008 goals in blue below, and then a description of what I accomplished below that.

  • 52 posts on itowler.com

Well counting this post, I made 26 posts, which is better than the 14 last year, but still short of the Goal of 52 or one a week.  I finished strong, posting once a week towards the end of the year, but man those Months in the middle are a little sparse.

  • iTowler.com Goes Drupal 6.0

Yes, I did get this one done.  Itowler.com was moved from Xoops to Drupal 6.0 and I really like the change.  Count this goal as accomplished.

  • Read 8 books

I was supposed to read 8 books and write a posting on each book,  but that did not happen.  Let's see what books I read:

  1. The Wild Trees By Richard Preston
  2. All the Money in the World By Peter W. Bernstein
  3. Imperial Life in the Emerald City By Rajiv Chandrasekaran
  4. Lost History By Michael Morgan
  5. Empire of Debt By William Bonner and Addison Wiggin
  6. The Price of Admission By Daniel Golden
  7. Following the River Wide and Deep By Ray Toler

So I read 6 books, but only reported on a few of them....

  • Reach a weight of 170 or lower

Not Even close.... I do not think that I even lost a pound over the last year.  I did not gain, but I did not lose either....

  • Expand the family tree to include 2,650 people

At the start of 2008 my family tree had 1,306 people in it with 423 families.  As of Dec 31 2008, my family tree has 1,782 people in it with 557 families.  A sizeable increase, but not the doubling that I had set as a goal.  Instead it was only an increase of 476 people.  Even though I did not reach my goal, all of the new people added were added with sources, so they are in better shape than some of the others in the tree.

  • Pay off my Debt

YES!!!  This one was HUGE, I paid off my debt (other than my house).

  • Stop Drinking COKE/Soda

Nope... Did not get this one done.  I am still hooked on Soda....

Over all I think I did ok.  I was pretty productive, and I was able to accomplish some of the items.  I was able to knock out my debt, which is huge, but I do need to work on my weight in the new year.

Happy New Year.
